Summer 2010 DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT???? For those who believe, no proof is necessary. Aliens. Ouija boards. Fortune tellers. Astrology charts. Ghosts. Many of us have interests and beliefs that might seem, well, “out there” to others. Believing in something that is not quite mainstream shows our originality of thinking; our willingness to remain open to all possibilities in this world. But are we ready to “fess up” about our convictions and share them with others? Are we willing to risk being scorned or scoffed? That’s the question that I posed to you, and your responses reflected a variety of beliefs along with your willingness – or not - to be acknowledged. The thing is, in my humble opinion, that being open to any and all possibilities in this world shows that we’re women who are accepting, forward thinking and ready to consider that anything is possible. Certainly an open and positive way to view life. When we are comfortable sharing our beliefs we can open up a dialogue about the myriad possibilities that exist out there in the cosmos and, in doing so, will discover others who embrace the same viewpoints. And isn’t it wonderful that we are capable of so many diverse trains of thought, ready to explore all the possibilities that this life (and beyond?) has to offer! *** Have I piqued your interest? Would you like to know just what you responded when I asked “What particular interest do you have that might be ‘different’ ”? Here are you answers – fascinating and honest. I thank you for sharing them with us. *** Well, I have had an interest for years in silent cinema. I actually think I was supposed to live in the 1920's, so that might explain why, even as a child, I hunted out silent movies to watch. People have walked away from me because of this interest, so I keep it to myself. Thanks to DVD's, I can enjoy these movie by myself. Still, it would be nice to meet up with other people with similar interests. *** Interestingly enough, we just had an animal communicator come to the shelter I volunteer at. She "connected" with my beloved Casey who passed 2 years ago and also with my pets who I have at home. She told me that Casey was happy and had a job on the other side. She welcomed the children who crossed. It brought me GREAT comfort as Casey was a wonderful dog and LOVED all children!!! I could honestly see her doing that. I told a couple of people what I was told and of course got the skeptical eye which made me hesitant to tell more people. It did bring me great comfort though and I DO BELIEVE that she connected with Casey!!! :) - Sue *** As bizarre as it might sound, I really believe one can feel a great sense of relief by visiting with deceased loved ones. I once had such a visit from my Dad. He was smiling which meant to me he was at peace & I hope pleased with the way I was living my life!Hope I don't give anyone the wrong impression but this only happened once & was a wonderful thing to experience. Thank you for asking, - Anonymous *** I believe in my dreams- not the ones of wishes and hopes but the ones that come at night, creeping gently( and sometimes, not so gently) into my sleep. They are movies custom made for me! I believe they are offer glimpses into the reams of material we have stored in our an inner self, which we may not have access to in our wakeful state. Some people say they are messages from a Higher Power or from a loved one that has passed on. Psychologists call it our sub-conscious at work. Regardless of your definition and the origin of dreams there is no denying the power of these nightly "videos" So many questions- why do people all over the world and through the centuries, have dreams of a similar theme- screaming and yet having no voice, flying, running through mazes, being chased? Why do we often have "theme dreams"-which like worn re-runs they come to us repeatedly though our lives? Or how about those dreams that offer a glimpse into our future and then stun us when the premonition comes true? Even though the origin of dreams may remain a mystery, we can benefit from considering the value of them. They may just provide clues or insight into the very deepest part of our selves. - Donna F. *** This whole belief in god thing has had me thinking a lot lately. We used to think that various gods were responsible for thunder, hunting, etc. We have eliminated those gods (Thor, Diana), so why do we still hold on to the belief in any god. Would love to hear from a rational atheist. -Diane R *** Just wanted to respond. I'm a soul who likes to be open minded and I don't mind out of the ordinary topics - so any or all of the topics you mentioned would spark my interest. - Barb *** I lose myself in drumming circles, completely lose all semblance of my physical being when I sit with others and drum. When someone starts a beat, others join in, then the rhythm builds and builds and builds and something stirs within that transports me to a place inside that has the power to heighten my senses; I have no name for the feeling other than pure awareness. The most surprising and exhilarating outcome of drumming is that I remain enveloped in sweet serenity for days. Once again, thanks for asking. - Eileen J *** I wanted to answer the question.... When asking for "things" or direction I do get an answer in some form or another. - BB *** As for me? Well I do believe in the possibility of ghosts, extra-terrestrial life, and communication with the deceased. I guess I believe that anything’s possible- even that which modern science cannot yet prove. I’D LIKE YOU TO MEET A VERY SPECIAL TAO AND DEFIANT WOMAN
Hilda had a daughter named Suzanne and, though we really didn’t know each other back then, Suzanne came back into my life several years ago when I visited with Hilda and she very proudly told me about her daughter’s life and work. What a treat to reconnect with Suzanne – a Tao and defiant woman who is classy, bright, articulate and witty, (hmmm – that old apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, does it) and the founder of Mighty Companions, a network where “thinking individuals have opportunities to meet, to engage and further the consciousness shift now sweeping through humanity.” (NOTE: all quotes in this piece are taken from Suzanne’s websites) According to Suzanne, in the first half of her life she did all things traditional: Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude at New York University, a “cooking fool” (The Anybody Can Make It, Everybody Will Love It Cookbook), a Mom of three (now grown-up) girls, a post-impressionist painter and a working actress (lots of network television commercials plus guesting on many TV shows: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0853220/). In 1970, she “got unmarried” and started her second life, searching for herself. That search led her to go down mind-expanding avenues and eventually to where she is now – taking on projects and events “where people chew on how it will be when we human beings learn to take care of each other.” Her work is now taking her into the exciting world or crop circles: Crop Circles 101 Suzanne is the Executive Producer of “Crop Circles: Quest for Truth," an award winning feature documentary that came out in 2002, and is the Producer/Director of “What On Earth? Inside The Crop Circle Mystery,” another award winner that came out last year. It's “an 81-minute feature documentary chronicling my interactions, in England, with members of the lively community of visionary artists, scientists, philosophers, geometers, educators, and farmers who have been profoundly touched by the crop circle phenomenon. It deals with how our scientific materialistic worldview hampers serious investigation of a great mystery of our time, and how knowing that the circles come from intelligence would help us think as a planet to solve the problems that challenge us now.” “Since these formations, which appear in crop fields around the world, are largely ignored by the media, and what has been reported by and large has been startlingly irresponsible, their genuine nature as a non-human perpetration is not understood by the majority of people. Those who do know what is happening call the appearance of the designs the most awesome thing that ever has happened to humanity.” Whether or not you believe as Suzanne does about the crop circles, I hope you agree with me that she is, indeed, a most inspiring, Tao and defiant women: a woman who is open to all possibilities in this vast universe; creates venues for us all to meet and exchange thoughts and ideas; and is on the cutting edge of exploration and study of one of the most fascinating phenomenon on our planet.
